Lectures

I offer a variety of lectures to guilds and other groups. These are some that are currently available. Any lecture can be customized to your group’s interests. New lectures are offered as the occasions arise.

Restoring Old Looms

This details the Old Chelmsford Garrison House Loom Project, which took place between 2012 and 2014. Like so many New England looms, this one was stored in an attic for countless years. It took many hours and the help and advice of many people to resurrect it to a condition suitable for demonstrating at the historic property.

The Wool Bump Project

This project started with some free fleeces and ended with some beautiful, cushy area rugs. The process of sorting the fleeces, having them processed and making the rugs is detailed. A multi-media presentation features the processing steps at Mad River Fiber Mill.

Textiles from the Westford Historical Society’s Collections

This show & tell lecture is offered in cooperation with the Westford Museum & Historical Society. Their collection of local artifacts, from clothing and accouterments to linens and household items is typical of many New England towns. However, each one of these objects has its own unique and interesting story to tell.
