Description
Wayland Farmer’s Market Workshop Sunday, 3 March 2024, 1-3 p.m.
This workshop is for everyone interested in learning to spin on a drop spindle! To start off, there will be a brief introduction to various spindles and why you might want one vs. another.
For those who have never spun before, you will start out with pencil roving to get the hang of the process. You will then move to drafting wool roving. For anyone who already spins on a wheel, it should be relatively easy to pick it up. Penny will have pencil roving to work with for the first tries, and you will progress quickly to roving or top. Everyone will go home with some spun yarn. If time allows, you will learn to ply your singles into a balanced yarn.
If you have a drop spindle, please bring it along. If not, Penny will have some you can borrow. Fiber will be provided as part of the class fee, but you are welcome to bring your own.
The workshop will take place at the Fiber Day at the Wayland Farmers’ Market at Russell’s Garden Center, on the 3rd floor. This is appropriate for teens and adults.
Registration is encouraged. If space is available, walk-ins will be accepted.
